need help from sohc build up guys

Default need help from sohc build up guys

this question is to all of the peeps that have built sohc's
im getting a 91civic hb dx and My friend told me for decent power untill i can afford a swap i should do this and i ask you if it would be worth the money and would it be good
he says
stock block
d16z6 head (vtec)
si cam (higher lift)
si tranny (better gears)
and i dont know jack about engines and **** so any help would be great

IMO, just stick with your stock motor and save your money until you can afford a B-series motor. You'll be spending at least $300-$500 for what you want to do, if you saved that, you'll be that much closer to a B16 or B18. BTW, a Si cam won't work in the Z6 head.

I did a full Z6 swap and I love it. Great engine for daily driver and can do an easy turbo kit on it later down the line. Also, 92-95 civic Si cam will fit in a Z6 head if thats the one he's talking about.

Well I'm putting a mini-me in my 88 hatch, but only because I got the Z6 head and D15 bottom for free. I just had to get new gaskets and such. If I had to start from scratch, then I'd save for a B-series motor. Don't get me wrong, I think D-series engines are highly underrated. BTW, I assumed he meant an 88-91 Si cam.
