Mini-me question
Over the summer I am going to be saving my money and finally getting a manual tranny and a VTEC head (D16Z6 head). I am going to put a lot of money into these parts and I would like to know what the best way to make the most out of them is. I'm thinking of getting all the head work done (port polish, valves, retainers, springs, cam, cam gear etc...). I would rather get a swap but my dad wants me to keep the engine and just mod it. Are these mods worth it and what else should I do along with it. Here's the budget I've got to work with about $1700. Figure out $600 for the tranny swap, and another $100 for misc kinda little things that always pop up. Thats gives me $1000 to spend on performance for my D15B7. I welcome all help and all opinions. I know a swap would be most cost-effective but it is not an option so give me some D-series ideas please.

Re: Mini-me question (tabrisakakaoru)
mini mes are fun, some dudes on the sohc board run 13's in a hatchs with some basic setup stop bore and stuff, with just the head bolted on it it should run decent times like low to mid 15s easy. its not that much work, the only problem i had with mine was gettin the timing belt on. so good luck bro

Re: Mini-me question (blackhat1)
Thanks I'm just looking for a little something to keep up with my friends. I'm gonna start piecing together a turbo setup for it over a span of time hopefully not too long. I'm jsut hoping to not have the slowest car at school anymore.

Why you should turbo your SOHC and not do a Mini-Me:

Re: Mini-me question (BauleyCivic)
Thanks BauleyCivic I have to take my head off anyway because I have a pinhole leak in the headgasket. I was thinking about boost beacause my car has been well maintained. I think I might do both if I can get a few hundred more I could get the stuff necessary to make my own setup. I think I might just wait a little longer on all this stuff and do a full buildup for the boost. My neighbor has worked on Hondas for a long time and he thinks my leak is nothing serious he says I should be able to drive it for 20,000 more miles before it starts to smoke. He said it look like its leaking from the tab on the side of the headgasket towards the dizzy. Oh well just more money stuff to figure out now.
Your car is awesome BauleyCivic
