New addition!
As of yesterday, there is now a spot in my stable of cars reserved for a 1989 Flint Black CR-X Si which will be joining the 'teg in about a month's time (maybe less!).
The D-series engine has about 213,000mi on it and still pulls strong. The exterior has some (repairable) minor blemishes on it and the interior's in great shape. Just thought I'd send out an update, I posted a similar topic here before at the beginning of the "rex-hunt." I'll post again when the deal is finalized and the 'rex is insured and on the road.

It's only been a month or two, but on Saturday I picked up the 'rex! It's got a lot of cancer - I may be asking for some tips on fixing the rust. If the rust-repair goes well, I may be in searchof a ZC swap - the 1.5L engine has 217,000mi on it and I'm not too enthusiastic about revving it. That's about it for now, just wanted to update my last post.
Congrats on the purchase man!!!!!!!!!!!! Im doing the body work to my car as well! cool. If you need help let me know.
Rust inhibitor, fiberglass, and or bondo will become your best friends. Do it the best most expensive way and weld in new pieces or buy new panels, do it the more economical way and save cash but take longer doing it.
My words of advice to you.

I believe my model is a CRX 1500 Si. (That's what the insurance company read from the VIN). I will check the engine code stamp tonight, but I'm pretty sure it's a 1.5.
Did Honda use this engine for only a short time, and then "phase-in" the 1.6? My car was manufactured in early '89 if that helps.

no man, the Si has always been a 1.6L for the 2nd generation CRX. the 1.5L is the DX which you can tell by if you have a power moonroof, if you have one then you have a Si, also check your engine by looking at the throttle body, if it is silver and round its an Si or an HF but if its black and kinda boxy then its the DX.

Actually the 88 makes 103
89 = 105
90-91 = 108
Also, my insurance company had/has my car listed as 1500 CRX or whatever....and mine is an Si too
but it is a 1.6 hehee, if they only knew what was up w/ my car!! ahh my premiums would be a bit higher

Yes I have a power moonroof and the tb is silver with a big PGM-FI logo on it.
So I have a 108hp 1.6L then huh? I tried to find the engine code stamp yesterday evening and couldn't - the engine was covered with grime. So I went a little crazy with CD2 cleaner. I still can't find the stamp, though it looks much better now.
Odd how the insurance company reads it as a 1.5L.
