still having trouble with hesitation at high rpm
my 97 itr is having a hesitation at around 7k rpm. im still not sure whats going on, i pulled the vtec solenoid and cleaned the screen, i checked the plugs-they are burning ok, i just dont know what is going on. i had some valves replaced a while back because of a mishift, but the motor is bone stock, anyone have any ideas? i was thinking maybe it was ignition or electrical since it doesnt do it all the time. maybe plug wires, rotor, coil? i just dont know, i am throwing cel code 67, which is the cat, dont know if that effects anything or not, but i dont think so. any help is appreciated, thanks

Andrew: I thought you were going to replace the rotor, cap, plugs and optionally the wires per the other thread you created regarding this issue?
well dave i was untill someone here told me that wasnt really necessary, he told me to check my vtec solenoid, remove it and clean the filter, was that a waste of time?

i have the stock ngk plugs, not sure the last time i changed them, probably due for that too. since the motor is bone stock, i should just go with the stock plug wires right, oem coil, cap, can rotor also, right?
Start with the stuff you should have done and then look for any problems, most likely you won't have any if you maintain your car correctly
Can't remember when you changed plugs last
Maybe you should have a journal of whats done to your car. and not guess when its time to change items...

the vtec sole was worht a try, but you have over 60k miles right? I wouldn't use stock rotor, cap, wires and plugs for over 60kish, but I think Acura claims more than that. Either way, hesitation is generally ignition or fuel related so replace the parts that should be replaced anyways makes sense IMO.

ive only got 53k miles on it. as far as ignition replacement have i covered everything with the rotor, cap, coil, plugs and wires? what aftermarket should i go with if im not using oem? and what about fuel related, what should i look at there?

i should have done that yesterday when i was messing with the solenoid, oh well, i dont have another day off untill sunday, so ill probably do it then. what about the coil? ill let you know what happened and if the problem is fixed. anything i should look for when taking off the old parts that would be a tell tale sign? thanks

67 wont cause anything, just come to the next florida meet and the we-todd's will fit in a diagnostic time. next one is in orlando in jan.
thanks dave, keep me up to date on the date, time and location. so removing the cat and checkiing for cloggs and replacing the sensor is a waste of time?
