Advanced Timing and Gas Octane
I'm thinking of advancing the timing on my B18B1 with bolton mods. I've looked through past posts, but haven't been able to find an answer within my patience time frame.
So my question is, if I advance my timing to 18 degrees, what kind of gains am I looking at? Also, what octane gas will I have to run? I use 87 now and always in the past with no problems, will I have to use 89 or 93 octane? I'm trying to get an idea if the gains are worth the costs.

if you advance the timing you might as well use 91 + to be safe. depending on where your timing is set now, you could get a substantial HP increase from such a cheap (well, free) mod. mine was at 14 deg, so by advancing it 4 deg to 18, i think i could safely say i got about 5 whp. also when i did this i change my spark plugs and wires. so that could have something to do with it.
