OK, how the frick do i get this AUTOLOCK on my civic pedals!? doesn't seem to fit right!

OK, how the frick do i get this AUTOLOCK on my civic pedals!? doesn't seem to fit right!
ok, call me stupid but it seems the pedal arms are too short for this to fit CORRECTLY, what the hell am i doing wrong? anyone have pics?

On my 99 Si, I flip it upside down so this "foot" thingy is pointing up, From there, you have the 'open' side pointing to the left, and you slide it over the right side of the pedal arm in a right-to-left motion. Pull and lock.

after doing a search (i should have done this 1st but i never heard of anyone having a problem) i actually came across others w/ the same troubles, some guy actually posted a video on here! lol!
see i have a 93 civic and for some strange reason theres this big hunk of metal right above the pedal (clutch pedal that is) i noticed this isnt on the newer civic's and teg's but that guys vid and pics helped alot.
Just gotta angle the sucker.
