need advice on engine rebuild****help
alright, due to outrageous college tuition i am stuck buying a cheaper car than i wanted. i found a 95 gsr with 92k miles on it for 5g's. this will be my daily driver. i need it to be extremely reliable but also want it to be a lil faster than stock. mid to low 14's would be alright for now. because of the reliability issue i am going to go all motor with this car. now the car already has 92k on it and to me that means it is already halfway to its death or maybe even closer than that. i am wanting to keep this car for a while but also want to male it faster. what should i replace or rebuild as far as the internals of the engine go and the engine in general. Should i yank the whole thing out and get the head or the block shipped somewhere to get professionally repaired. remember money is the big issue here, any and all input is greatly appreciated on what to replace or repair while doing an engine rebuild
i think that car show be strait for daily driver. as for as rebuilding the motor and keeping a daily driver i would maybe get itr pistons nice cams replace all ya bearings you know tipicall rebuild but thats not a big rush i would get basic stuff fist header exhaust cold air ecu chip then start worrying about other big stuff. just start off small the car will treat you well as long a syou treat it well. peace
Do A compression and leak down test first to see if a rebuild is warranted, unless you just have your heart set on a rebuild.
already had a compression test done and it came back fine, got the carfax and everything is fine, took it to my local mechanic and he said all he noticed was that it needs a new oil pan gasket and power steering resovoir was cracked, no biggie on either one. now if my engine does decide to go out on me, how much do you think another gsr engine with relativly low miles on it would cost?? low miles meaning 60k or below, would u even risk buying a used engine or would u get brand new or would u get jdm.
is that new or used? if used how many miles? more power than gsr? direct swap like a regular gsr engine or will different ecu and tranny be needed?

used...probably around 30,000 miles. 10 more hp than usdm b18c1. direct swap. utilizes stock usdm tranny, ecu, and everything else.
