Default Power steering pump by-pass

Ok guys, I have a little theory here and I need some opinions to see if it will work.
I'm thinking of keeping the power steering hoses, just by-passing the pump part of it. The pump

I was thinking of cutting the hose on the left and extending it to the fluid reservoir essentially bypassing the pump itself like so. The rack will retain fluid for lubrication and will be able to breathe a little due to it not just being plugged up on both ends. The other end of the reservoir is attached to this. which goes into this (looks like some kind of cooler or something)
I would remove the previous two items and reroute the other end of the line into the other opening in the reservoir. Essentially forming a closed loop but there would be room for fluid to flow due to it not being closed and extra room in the reservoir. Do you guys think this would work or has it already been done before? And what is this plug for? I would assume it's some kind of pressure sensor. If I unplug it will it do anything? Sounds dumb, but would it trip a cel or anything?

Yes, I read that already. What I'm saying is would my way, which is very similar, work better than this...
And I don't see the need to buy all of the crap used in this one...
Basically, I'm looking for a cheap way to bypass the PS pump without having to get the breather tank and everything...

One of the reasons people do it is to remove all the weight possible, and if you are leaving all those hard lines there than you are leaving behind weight as well.

You opposed to just removing the belt?

The feel of my car for track and at autocross is fine, I have a ps pump pully and will probably leave it this way.

I'm sure most of the weight is in the pump/pulley itself. I'm just trying to get rid of anything I don't really need while the engine is out. The lines probably only weigh a few pounds. Weight reduction isn't a primary issue to me anyway, I weigh 250lbs myself so the little guys already have a start on the weight advantage....
Does anyone know anything about this plug?

I want to free up the torque wasted to turn the ps pump. I don't really need it. I can turn the steering wheel myself.

you're really not freeing up that much torque to be worth it, but if you want to

your way sounds like it would work exactly the same as the setup in the other thread if you did 2 things

1)drained the majority of the fluid out
2)put one of those little breather filters on top of your P/S resivour.

I'd guess that the majority of the weight in the P/S system is in the fluid not the pump. If not it's close second. fluid is heavy.

No idea on the sensor.
