I cant help but feel bad for Jarrod Silvers
They spent all that time laying everything out and turning the motor long ways....and NHRA outlaws it....sorry bro
anyone know what his plans are?

anyone know what his plans are?
thats a royal kick in the nuts for sure, but maybe he didnt do enough research as far as asking NHRA about the rule...who knows..
I was looking at the 2003 rules today (ack, didn't save them, don't want to download them again), and I thought that if you relocated the motor you had to pay the full tube chassis weight penalty, so he might still be able to run it (don't quote me, just download the rules if you have a fast connection
. But, he'll have to take on 150 lbs for the tranny and another 75 lbs for the chassis putting him at 1900 lbs. That will put him at a major disadvantage. I don't think the tranny is going to help him more than the 150 lbs will slow him down.

I went over the rule book to make sure im not out of place, but his car is legal. He does have those weight penaltys like CAT said. You can run a full tube car with motor relocated. 1675 lbs for all motor, 75 pounds for the tube frame, and 150 pounds for aftermarket trany. 1900 pounds and hes good to go. But yeah, I think those weight penaltys are a BIG problem and he better plan on making a bunch of power.

to me, its all part of the evolution of the sport. I saw the chassis a few weeks ago after it was just done out from the shop, before all the painting. all I can say.. its super clean. top notch work.
ya for now, it might be iffy to make a tube all motor. but like Steph, Jarrod is taking it to the next level. trying something new... for himself and for the sport.
Wil.. hoping he'll run Exospeed.com on his racecar.. hehehe

I disagree what you say about jared. Hes not taking it to the next level. That car is an exact replica of Stephs car, so in my eyes, hes a bitter. Plus, its just dads money that builds him a car. I could say a lot more but I wont. I just dont feel that car is next level. I will say this, its one of the nicest cars I have ever seen. I think its is very pretty and has lots of cool parts and a super nice paint job on it.
well ya true Mike, its not original in design, but as far as all motor cars, he's doign sumthing diff like Jeremy. Whatever they want to do ... let them be. whether it be from daddy's pocket or sponsor's money. and also.. i could say more. but I wont as well.
the NHRA rule revisions came out today. It says that they are outlawed when long ways. Im not sure what the deal is but from what i can read. its outlawed
Where are these rule revisions? I read what they have posted as revisions on the nhra website and I have the rule book and have seen nothing about turning the motor sideways in a full tube car.

Does this not mean that Silvers car IS illegal for NHRA?

so the first MAJOR 4 cyl FWD to go straight is now outlawed??????>>>
They are referring to the all-motor class.
Speaking of rules, how pissed do you think Roger Scalise is now that theyve outlawed 6 cyl motors in Hot Rod?
Unless, of course, they change the rule to please a big sponsor like Hyundai
.....naaaa, that wouldnt *really* happen, right?

Gotta love good ol nhra for having their hands in import racing....theres a bunch of wasted time and money for people. I dont think its fair to have 4 cyc. with 6cyc. anyways unless a big weight penalty is assest.
I dont think his car is illegal...just has to add a weight penalty for the way the motor is mounted, and a weight penalty for tube chassis, but its not outlawed.
He will be running with us next year. He's just going to have to take a big weight penalty and he's running methanol so he going to weigh close to 2000lbs
