anyone here use a PYR chipped P28?
i will be putting a '98 JDM ITR motor in my 91 hatch and do not know which ecu to use. it will be running OBD1.
i was going to use the kenji p28 but i can get a decent deal on a PYR p28. anyone have any experience with this ecu?

PYR is the best ECU program we have tried (& it's all we use now - unless Hondata, AEM or other standalone is available). On the dyno, it produced better results than Skunk2 or Mugen. The biggest difference is that it does run very rich.
hey GM2000ITR,
are the ITR motors that you tune heavily modded?
my mods list will be minimal: CAI, exhaust, JDM 4-1, flywheel. Will I still see the same gains using the PYR ecu?

We use the PYR program for just about every ITR motor (be it ITR w/ heavy mods, light mods, LS/VTEC, etc.) Peter really knows what he is doing. The greatest example I can remember was my friend Keith's EK hatch w/ ITR motor. Basic mods(I/H/E, gears, CTR cams, light flywheel, FPR, etc.), we saw a 22whp increase from simply adding the PYR P28 (w/ OBDI harness). Skunk2 and Mugen could only muster up 14-15 more ponies(not bad, but not 22!)
Hope this helps!

danngg that is very impressive ... this will certainly be something ill look to invest in the future (When it jdm B18C swap comes in

Its just the mugen chip put in the P-28 ecu. I used the same exact prog on my car. Its definately a good ecu/chip combo. If you really want the ecu chipped, let me know i can get it done for you prob at a better price and quick turn around.
I will also say this, Hondata is better however it is a bit more expensive. For the money the chipped P-28 is a great ecu.

I used to have the PYR chipped P28 in my old hatch. I used it strictly for drag racing because of the strong fuel curve. I won't lie you burn gas like a V-8 with this ECU, but it is the **** and worth every penny. If my R was NA I would be using it.
i ran peter's program for awhile. it ran nice, ate alot of gas though.
*the check engine light was always lit with this chip...do any of u riding this peter's program do this?*

ECU light should not be on. Mine never was. Remember P-28 does not check for knock sensor. If chipped correctly, light should not be on. Unless of course your wiring is messed up. Also i only got like 18mpg with the ecu because it loves to guzzle gas.
The gas-guzzleing thing is strange to me. My B16A2 made way more power by leaning the hell out of the fuel curve, especially up top. Strange to see a program that goes the other way.
Maybe I just need a P28 prgrammed to stock B16A2 specs, and I'll just use my V-AFC w/ it again...
Tuning: it's always confusing...
