Default All JDM ITR hybrids, what ECU do you use for the crappy 91octane gas?

I will be swapping out my current GSR swap soon for a new 11kmiles JDM 99 ITR, and want to know which ECU I can use to get the most out of the car.

Get a rechipped P-28 if you have a OBD-I car. Kenji (a member of this board) does them @ a reasonable price. Great guy. i know a few people personally besides myself that are running his ECU and they like it as well.

<--P28

Previously used a CTR ecu, and it ran fine too.

I run a p28, but the p73 will work just fine if not better.

if its a EG, then its simpler to use a OBDI ecu such as P30, P72 or P61 (either chipped form or with VAFC/ or some vtec controller)

if the mods are going to be pretty much nothing more then bolt ons then get OBDI to OBDII harness converter and use that P73, as its an excellent ecu

Or a Hondata if you have the money (I'm switching to that when I go boosted next year).

1 thing though if you use a USDM ECU you'll have to get a USDM vtec solenoid, the JDM vtec solenoid has vtec tapped off.

you can get a chipped p28 with hondata s200 and it will be the same price as the vafc but will have more features

the problem with using a p28 ecu on a jdm itr motor is that the p28 reads vtec pressure switch, and the jdm ITR vtec solenoid does not have this.
you will either need to swap to a USDM solenoid or re-wire it

Can anyone elaborate on the vtec issue with the p28 being used for a jdm itr swap? I'm just curious as to see what wiring it would entail if the solenoid is not swapped out.

you will need to tap into the vtec solenoid to plug up the pressure switch.
i believe its only two wires, p/s and ground.

i just got a usdm vtec solenoid.

indeed just splice the oil pressure switch to the vtec solenoid and you're done. (no codes no problems)

i have lots of success running reprogrammed p28 or p72 ecu to run with pump gas. we have a all motor type r/eg on pump gas that runs 12.1@109mph with my ecu. i can do them at a reasonable price contact me if anyone is interested.

The pre-2000 JDM P73 is pretty much just an OBDI ECU with OBDII plugs. Rewiring to use this ECU is no more difficult than rewiring a 1988-1991 car to use a 1992-1995 ECU.

<---Kenji ECU on my b18c5

It runs really rich all the time --I hope that is ok for the engine?
