Default JDM DC 4-1 vs. JDM Honda 4-1 header

Discuss..

I am going to get a header before Christmas, I just need to decide which one. I can get a ceramic JDM DC Sports header for 316.. or I can get a JDM Honda header for 390 shipped. Which would you do? Thanks!

I'd go with the JDM OEM header.. but you'll need to get a cat as well...

I would choose the DC. You can use the factory hanger and I believe it is a little bit lighter than the JDM 4-1.

I've heard the DC is lighter.. but I am kinda liking the fact that the JDM Honda part looks stock w/the heat shields.

Oh, and I am getting a Carsound cat as well.

I like the JDM OE header better due to the heatshields. The DC doesnt' cut it in terms of road clearance but if you can handle it, it does have more potential.

If you get the DC don't get ceramic. As long as you are stock ride height you should be fine. IMO it doesn't hang that low. It's lower than stock but as long as you're not stupid it shouldn't be a problem.

Very true, speaking from experience! But the DC is much lighter than the OEM JDM 4-1, and the ceramic will stay cooler without spending extra $$$ on heatshields.

But if your car is pretty low, clearance will be minimal...so be warned!

I do have a shitty driveway, so I can see my header scraping everytime I leave or come home. I am leaning toward the JDM 4-1. Does the DC flow better?

Edit: I heard somewhere of a skidplate for the DC header? Or am I mixing my information up? I'm pretty tired, so I could be wrong.

You can put a skidplate on the oem header. One of its advantages.

No problems here with my dc jdm. I'm at stock ride height, have no clearance issues. Very happy with the gains, and the stock bracket can be used. More bang for the buck.....

there is some type of universal skidplate, i seen it on boards before, it attaches by couple clamps and some type of metal mesh in between. dc sports might have slight advantage, while honda retains the quality and works smoother with stock ecu map.

honda header could be ported and reversion chamber could be taken out which could lead to some hp gain, i haven't seen any dynos on that.

I've heard horror stories of the DC Sports 4-1 headers cracking on the weld part that bolts to the block. Anyone have info on this?

I am assuming there is no way to attach the skidplate from fastlineperformance.com to the JDM DC??

i'm sure you can rig it up, but that one is designed for the OEM JDM 4-1, not the DC..

parts from home depot can give you your very own skidplate..

That skidplate looks good... and better yet it protects the header from dings and dents if ever they were to happen....
