how to get alternator out??
Alright i have a 91 crx dx. I have taken the alternator of of the alternator bracket, but then i cannot find a way to get it out. It seems to get stuck on the axle if i try to pull it out from the bottom, and if i try to get it from the top, the intake manifold is in the way. So should i just take the intake manifold off or is there another easier way? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

Take off the drivers side wheeel and remove the plastic splash shield. Remove the alternator bracket and then the alternator will fit through the opening just above and in front of the axle. It may take some turning and manuvering to get it out but it will come out in one piece. No need to take any thing else off.
no you dont have to bleed the brakes...take the alternator off you wont be able to get it out...all you do to get it out is to take the bolts off the master cylinder and move it around to fit the alternator out...they are strong metal hoses just move it enough to get the alternaotr out...easiest way to do it right there...trust me i spent 2 hours tryin to get mine out until i just took that off
Don't take anything appart!!!Your problem is you have the CRX up in ramps!. Put the alternator somewhere away from the axil, where it doesn't move, connect the battery and turn on the car. Bring it down from the ramp and turn off the car. Lift with a JACK and secure properlly to ork under the car (Use towers). The alternator will clear from the bottom super easy. Email me if you have a problem.
I have removed at least 7 alternators by disconnect the negative battery terminal, remove the driver side wheel/tire, take the lower drivers side splash sheild off, disconnect the 10 mm nut from the top of the alternator unplug the green plug, Remove the altenator from the mounting bracket (12 mm at the top 14 mm at the bottom), remove the bracket from the back side of the block (two 14 mm Bolts). slide the alternator through the opening in front of the axle and out where the plastic splash shield would have covered. you may have to tilt it around a little but it will fit through that opening quite easily. It also helps to push the sleeve on the alternator bracket so the alternator has a little more clearence makeing the remount of the alternator easier. You don't have to fight with lack of clearance and the alignment problems associated with it.
