i have three of the jl 6" subs in the jl ported box. theyre not REAL loud but they do bump good. im happy w/ them. most people think its a 12 or 2 10's. they hit real deep in the jl ported box but i think they might sound a LITTLE bit better in a sealed box. go w/ them tho, i love em, not too much bass but loud enough...

clutch

I looked at these really seriously back in the day when the 8.1's came out. If I recall correctly they are a W1 in a ported box. I have an 8W1 and am pretty happy with it.

I have no idea if they have placed any different drivers in there.

Car Audio & Electronics did a review on them back around 95 or 96. They said that "a pair of the JL 8.1 micro-subs would be audio heaven" or something to that effect.

I would contact your local jl dealer, but if you have the skills, why not build the box yourself? It's just a simple ported enclosure...nothing special...

You may be able to find on on eBay or even on sounddomain.com

I think they discontinued the W1 line, or at least they cut back on them significantly as they currently only push the W0, W3, W6, and W7's. Then again, I'm no expert on JL audio, so your local dealer would be the best place to get an answer...either that or email JL directly.
