300ZX Vs Prelude?
A early model 300zx turbo'd manual, basically when they discontinued the 280zx and started the production of the 300zx. That model against a 01 SH with CAI. Would it be a one sidede race or a drivers race...Just outta curiosity. Cause my friend wants to race for some money.

you better tell your freind to give the guy his money first cuz he not gona win hahaha
Man i dont know there a guy in my town that has a tt 300z and he ran a 15.3 three times in a row. I think it just depends on the driver.
But any race has to do with driving skills, I mean, I could race a NSX in a stock civic and win(If he started out in 3rd and missed every gear) but does that make a Civic faster then a NSX? NO of couse not.
300 Zx TT should never lose to a prelude SH with a CAI, or with every bolt-on I/H/E/P.
You guys need to read. He's not talking about the TT 300ZX...
He's talking about the old ugly 300ZX, I don't think the turbo model was that fast...
The Z31 had:
84-87 non-turbo: 160 bhp @ 5200 rpm
84-87 turbo: 200 bhp @ 5200 rpm
88-89 non-turbo: 165 bhp @ 5200 rpm
88-89 turbo: 205 bhp @ 5200 rpm
This is just a guess but it's probably heavy...you should take it if he's not modified heavily...

As the former driver of an '86 300ZX N/A...I can say that I would go to the Prelude. The '84-'89 (Z31) 300ZX Turbos came with 200hp...same as the '01 SH's, but the 300ZX is fat (3700+lbs.) If it's stock against stock...my green would be on the Prelude.

Um...isn't the quarter on the SH 15.2?
my bro's first car was a 78 280zx turbo, that thing would run like a scalded dog... and for those of you that don't know those "redneck" terms, that means pretty ****** fast

And please no comments oh I know a guy that ran 14.7 in his SH. I have yet to see an SH run good times, not to say that it can't be done.
Driver's race depending on how much the Z31 300ZX is modded.

All I can say is the newer NA 300ZX's aren't extremely fast.. they weigh too damn much.. just like a supra. The older models like that I'd have to give to the prelude. I drove a 92 300ZX NA we had in at the shop and it was *ok*. The older ones as stated above didn't have much HP even in the turbo form (for the day they did i guess). Weight, age, etc.. I'd say if the driver of the prelude isn't a dolt he should come out on top
i raced my friends 91 300ZX tt and beat him every time by about a car lenght.
he doesn't have any major mods. but given that i beat stock SH's by more than that the ZX would be faster. the older models would be a good match up for the SH.

either way does this early model 300zx have mods.. stock for stock you may have a tight race.. however has his car maybe got bigger turbo? what about boost pressure? intercooled!??? any internal work? this all has to be taken into consideration.. you may find he could have a 12sec rocket and get he *** handed back to him..
But on the other hand if it is stock then it'll be tight I guess I have never really raced an old school 300zx
