neuspeed race springs?
i decided that i was gonna drop my rex on neuspeed race springs and either illumina's or agx's... i was talking to my friend and he suggested i not get them... he had them on his civic si and he said he blew the struts out in a little over a year... i know their spring rates are stiff which is one of the reasons i decided to get them... i figured one of the reasons he blew his struts might be that his car was considerably heavier than mine but has anyone actually blew their struts due to these springs?... if so, what kind of struts were you using/do you suggest?... thanks
i got the 2.5 drop race neuspeed...
they are a lil bouncy and i like it
i got the front gabriel lifetime warrant struts, and stock rear ones.. i had them for a lil over a yr and they still ride good...

i have newspeed race springs with kyb agx struts an energy susp kit s/t swaybars im working on putting it all in now along with a rear disk conversion and camber kit i wish i already knew how it would handel it prob wont be done till spring though i still havta build my z6
i thought neuspeed race drops the car 2.25 inches (according to their site)? I could be wrong...let me know. If they dropped 2.5"...they may be the set that I've been looking for. Thanks.
well i bought them used off a guy... and the drop its nice as hell..... i dont think its 2.25 bc it spretty low.... no wheel gap!!...
heres a quick picture....

with a drop that low you're pretty much limited to 195's for your max width of wheel choice. I have neuspeed sports which is a 2" drop and I have to use the GSR/00' Si wheels to get enough "-" offset to run my 205 azenis.

I HATE mine, they're so short that every time I jack up the rear end I have to make sure that when I let it down they in the right position, cause when you take the weight of the car off them, they're unsprung in the shock assembly. The ride sucks, and I still have a LOT of lean when using my Falken Azenis tires on the track, and this is with an ST rear sway bar.
I say they're good if you're a ricer.

Does anybody know of a better performing spring, I need a little less of a drop and better performance. BTW, these came with the car, I never would have bought these on my own accord.

I love mine...ive got the ones that are rated at 1.8 inches but it ended up dropping it 2 inches. Ive had them on my stock shocks(the ones that came with the car in 90) and they ride great.
I dont think that you have neuspeed springs dude...ive had both sets on my car and neither of them were so short that they would come un-perched when i jacked it up. Maybe the dude lied to you about the brand or maybe they are from another car. I just know that mine are great and they dont com un-perched.

They're yellow and say Neuspeed race on them! Do you want me to take pictures, since you don't believe me. I'll even get you the part numbers which are printed on them. They're uncut progressive rate Neuspeeds.
It's not significant unperching but enough to mess things up every once in a while. The problem doesn't happen with the fronts, only the rears. What happens is they are not sprung in the assembly and thus drop down a 1/4 inch out of the rubber then they lean over. The worst thing is that driving over very rough roads can get them set wrong in the perch too, so I have to reset them every so often.
I also have Neuspeed Koni shocks with the 5 seperate perches. I have it set on the top notch meaning the lower spring attachment point is higher than stock.

Well, in that case I don't know what to tell you...
It wasn't that I didn't believe you or doubted your knowledge, but to solve the problem one must clarify the situation first. Now that the situation is about as clear as it can be, I can say...that is ODD...especially since you have the Koni's above stock height.
I've heard of lots of people with the Koni's on a LOWER setting than stock w/Race springs, either H&R or Neuspeed...and I've never heard of that problem! Weird.
You could pick up a set of the sport springs by Neuspeed or H&R, and just use the perches to drop them down more...I have the Neuspeeds and don't have that problem when I'm driving or when the car is jacked up.

Good idea, they're used so I don't know how old they are. And I've put some good hard use on them, with some rough roads and lots of track time. Thanks for the help, I shouldn't have gotten defensive. They would be almost okay if they would just stick in the upper perch when I jack it up. The thing is though I don't mind how hard they are, I just want more performance and less drop. I think the Nuespeed Sport would be too soft. Thanks for the help. I think I want a longer spring and a very slightly lower spring rate, or maybe even the same spring rate. I might even go to coilovers.
ive got a set of the neuspeed race springs, and im thinking KONIS on there, ill let yall know how they go when i install them in the new year. KONIS would be the recommended right??

lol, this thread is moving around!
most aggresive springs will drop out of peches when the car is jacked up. mine do, at 325/275 they are fine for road. perhaps with a better shock though.
i presume neuspeed are similar to the design of progress. both are prgressive rate, so forget the "race" part
bouncy ride results from inadequate dampening, not the spring. with the right shock they will ride perfect.

The Konis are bad *** though. I usually keep them on full soft running on the street, but I forgot to set them back after a track event one day from full hard and I swear those things would shake your fillings loose on a rough road.

Wrong, when I lowered my friends 94 coupe he bought the race springs for his car and the rears would come out of the spring perch when the car was jacked up. Never seen them on an EF though.
