Default Burning oil?

I just got 8 new exhaust valves and exhaust springs put in my car a few weeks back. Now I am noticing all kinds of black **** on the back of my bumper. I went through 2 quarts of oil in a matter of a week and a half after all this got fixed. What could be my problem? It wasnt burning or leaking oil before I had the repair done. The car is not smoking at idle or driving, but does put out black carbon or smoke only when driven hard. Some help would be nice being that I am taking it back tommorrow and would like to be able to tell him what I think he did wrong.

Thanks! Corey

Why did you replace the valves? How did the valve seals and guides look?

I have gotten down to just about the last possible item for oil buring - the piston rings - I have done the valve seals, cam seals, head gasket, PCV system - nothing has stopped the massive oil consumtion on my R. I eat on average 1 qt. every 500 mi if I use vtec. If I am really pushing it I can use a qt. in 250 miles or less. I am the only one I know who can't even make it to the oil change without putting in like 2 qts. of oil. Well it's time to take the plunge into the bottom end - at least I'll be putting in hi-compression pistons so I'll get somthing out of it. Burning oil sucks

Instg8er,

Have you looked at the front of the throttle body to see if oil is going in that way?

E.G. from the cam cover to the rubber intake elbow? If so, what did you do to modify the stock intake?

Well I put an AEM on shortly after I got the car, and I have had that on since. Just this last week I made a custom setup with the aem - very similar to the Comptech Ice box (see pics of mine here: http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MxeTU0MQ%3D%3D ). When I took off the AEM to modify it, there wasn't really any greasy or oilly residue that I thought I might find as per other members posts in the tube. See the thing is though, I have oil smoke even when not driving in VTEC, which leads me to belive that it is the rings - also because the parts replaced in my last post.
