im a newbie, whats the difference between ef, ek, and eg civics?

Only if you're rolling a JDM hatch.

USDM hatches:
ED '88- '91
EJ (or was it EH?) '92- '95
FU '96- '00 (I don't know the USDM code for the 6th gens)

and than the ek's are the ones before the newest body style

FU does not equal 96-00... EJ is 96-00.. except for the civic SI which = EM1.. and the del sols which I believe were either built till 97 and were either eh or eg chasis code =P
