I learned alot last night, how to gain 10hp easily and how to screw up your motor!!!!
Well I took off the belt for the balancer shafts, idle isn't messed up at all really. I definetely noticed a gain across the board after racing some of my friends last night. So feeling good about the car and the **** I've done to it, I thought, why not just plug in this p72 ecu and see what happens. If seen other h22's run off a p72 so I thought it couldn't hurt......well.....****, I took it for a spin, pulled out, no check engine lights, got on it, ran through the gears, felt fine then let off the throttle and check engine light was on and the car putters like you would not believe. I'm thinking to myself, how the **** could an ecu mess up my internals??? It sounds like a bent valve or sumthin. There was no detonation when driving it, it sounded fine. I plugged in the p13(prelude) ecu and still same ****....its got like 99999 CEL codes I think....I was too lazy and pissed off to check them and mess with the car. Does anyone know what could've happened, I'll update this page with the codes tomorrow and a compression test, but how could an ecu cause me to either bend a valve or something else in that motor? Like I said, there was no detonation and the car still rode out, as usual, then when I let off the throttle, **** happens?!?!?!?

Check the codes and let us know. Bent valves don't make a CEL. You thought a P72 couldn't hurt? Man...

I thought it wouldn't hurt because I've heard of a few other h22's running p72's....i know the ITR works, i've seen that in person, so with hearing of others using p72's and knowing a ITR would work, i thought it wouldn't cause this much of a problem....at the very most maybe run rich or lean, maybe timing off a little.

REPROGRAMMED p72's. the fuel and timing maps on the two motors and ecu's are very different.
i have a P72 ecu, but it has been reprogrammed to work with the H22. the P72 has all the functions for the H22, but like i said, the timing and fuel maps arent fully compatible for a drop in replacement.

I only revved to 7400 or so....its chipped to go to 9k but obviously there is no way I'd push my h22 that high. I didn't hear any detonation, thats the thing that puzzles me.
