I went to the track on Wednesday on my Celica, I only got two runs, but both times I was getting mad wheel hop and pulled a 2.4 & 2.5 60ft times. I know it's because of my 17's with freakin' rain tires, but what should I do to eliminate it? Should I launch higher? When I race on the street, I don't have that problem, I launch from 3k, and it hooks up really nicely. I tried 3k, the 2.5k at the track and I ended up running two 15.4's . Any help would be appreciated. I might try to get some normal wheels next time I go, but if I can't then what should I do so it wouldn't hop so much? Thanx

 

usually wheel hop has to do with your suspension...get some stiff rear shocks or traction bars in the front

 

having bigger wheels throws off suspension.

try lower the psi in the tires.
try something like 20psi - 22psi.

 

what else do you have done to your celica? my friend has a 00 gts with cai, trd exhaust, lsd, blitz triple disc clutch, flywheel, 18" rims, eibach springs ran a 14.7 but hit the rev limiter in 3rd cuz he was staring at the clock (yea he knows he's a dumbass). so when he realized he hit the limiter, he shifted into 4th, but he had already crossed the line by then. since then he put 15" rims on, unbolted the muffler, and put an aem pulley on (cuz we all know pulleys add like 57hp ). he went to the track on saturday but i haven't heard what he ran yet. i'll try and post if i find out. also, he launches at about 5k

 

tire pressure..........

even slicks will wheelhop at 20 psi.......

 

I know it's because of the tire pressure, but I am afraid to lower it because of the low profile tires, I could damage my rims. I think I just need to launch higher to get them spinning.
