When accelerating in the lower RPM's I hear a pretty loud rattle. It sounds as if it's the heat shield. When I pulled up to my buddy the other day he heard it and I asked what it souned like and he also said the heat shield.
Is there anyway to tighten this thing up?
When I was under my car yesterday installing an axle back I noticed the heat shield that is around the resonator seems to be a little unsterdy (easy to move). I think this may be where the noise is coming from. Is there another heat shild, besides the one covering the headers?
Any thoughts on the problem?
It's a 93 Cx (hatch) with 148k
Thanks!

same happen to me. i just removed the heat shield from the cat. it was pretty easy i saw a tear in the metal becuz since the car was low it scraped the cat alot. after a while my cat still rattled. n went to a shop and replaced it. if it still rattles and the heat shield is off. and theres nothing else loose. you may have melted the stuff inside the cat.
Mine was rattling as well, i found out there was some gravel in between the heat shiel and piping. Cleaned it all out, sounds nice and quiet now. Yippeeeee.

Was it the shield that is near the resonator?
Thanks!
Just to let you know. Mines been doing that too for about a month and I recently took it to the shop to see what was wrong. I too thought it was the heat shield but I found out it was a motor mount that was completely eatten away. Got it fixed today for $120.00 and its as good as new. Just my 2 cents.
