Default Timing Advance

Hey guys... I have a 96 Accord LX and my friend has a timing gun and we want to advance my timing. I understand there is a place where you shoot the timing gun... can someone tell me where to shoot it? Also, I'm kinda a newbie to advance timing so can someone just give me brief step by step on how to do it? I appreciate the advice.
P.S. how do you use the timing gun anyways?

I'm going to be all the help I can possibly be. Now take into consideration, I have a '90.

There should be a rubber plug right below your head...above your header. Take that rubber plug off. This will expose the place to point your timing gun.

Now, follow the directions on your timing gun, but I will give a few pointers. Also, look in your car manual or something of the sort.

You may have to by-pass a wire underneath your passenger side dash (I had to)

The hook your light to the battery terminals, then hook the other wire to the dist. cap where the no1 wire is.

This is REALLY rough, but if you were to read the manual's then this should clear some stuff up.

After all that, start your car, wait for it to warm up, then aim your gun into that hole and you will be able to see the numbers along with a pointer where your time is already at.

If I said anything wrong, pleae correct me, and not flame me. Thanks.

I hope I was of some assistance. Good luck buddy!

94 and up Accords have the timing pointers on the timing cover.

Yeah... you have to put a mark on it. Or do like I did and put a mark on the Crank pulley and on the shroud surrouding it. I did not pass SMOG last time until I came back with a working timing mark...

There is no hole on yours. Point your light at the timing pointer on the timing cover and line it up with the red marks on the pulley.
