i have an 89 rex with a b18a and its been having problems....i took it to a shop and they told me that i need a map sensor along with other things but my question is which one do i use and is it okay to buy used....help will be greatly appreciated thanks

 

Any map sensor will work. As long as its on the firewall. DX, SI, or the LS will work. I say on the firewall because I know 92+ civics its built on the throttle body. Not sure if the 92-93 tegs are still on the fire wall or not. Buying used should be fine as long as it works. I have one off a teg if you need it. What other things did they say you needed?

 

they say i need a distributor and a brake booster....

 

Both I can understand. Dont have any xtras of those right now. The brake booster isn't bad to replace just have to crawl under the dash and adjusting it is a pain. The Diz is a breaze, could try junk yard only. What is wrong with the Diz did they say?

 

yea...i got a new one from autozone...(i know it was a bad decision but it was cheap)...and it dosent work right... they said you cant set the time on it and i have had the same problem with two other distributors that i bought there...

 

What cant you time? All you need to do is turn the distributor when the bolts are in to time it, every distributor you can time. I think anyway, i maybe wrong..

 

cant fully set it...it is turned all the way and still not where it is supposed to be

 

Did you take the timing belt off?? Think your not at TDC with the cams and bottom end. You can adj on the Diz +/- around 8% pretty sure. But if your off a cam tooth its 18% each tooth. If they cann't adj to get it in time and you removed the timing belt. I bet that the true problem. If this is it I would fire the mechanic and hire a new one.

 

found out what was wrong....it was my timing belt....it was off time and i replaced the dizz and the brake booster but now my brake light goes on....
