Problem - Broken Rear Strut bolt 5g accord
I actually broke the rear lower strut bolt on my 96 accord.
Do you guys know where i can get that bolt drilled out in SoCal?
Also, is the nut welded on the rear strut?
Please help
Thanks

Yes that nut is welded on. I broke that same bolt before on my 4th gen. I had to basically torch it out and replace the bushing. The nut on the strut was also cut off and replaced. It will be a major PITA. Order the new bolt, bushing and get a nut from Honda and then take it to a local mechanic. It will probably take them lees than an hour to do and will save you many hours of grief & split knuckles. Come to think of it, I think I broke that on my 5th gen also...
A friend of mine worked at midas and they did that kind of work. I don't know because I'm on the east coast but I would think they have Midas's over there in Cali. Go somewhere where they do exhaust work & suspension and they will more then likely be able to do it. I have the same problem right now with my 5th gen wagon and I'm trying to put the NEX adjustable coilovers on the rear but need to catch up with my Midas friend.
Not hard, use an acetelyn torch to cut the struts. The hard part is salvaging the bushings, which since you already know your fucked, go and buy new ones from Honda.
Drilling is very tough with that type of a bolt even with a Titanium tip, take my word for it.

same thing happened to me, I cut the bolt off, tore out the bushing and ghetto rigged it using a new bushing which I cut the metal outside off of it and just used a nut that wasnt welded and its been fine for about 2 years now I check on it from time to time
