Nope. It's been like that for a while now. It's the reason I'm not there anymore, and took quite a break from the boards. Dan (malken00, aka--Mr Admin) made it a $6 pay site after Chris announced the close of hondaprelude.com . I can understand where Dan comes from, where he would expect almost double traffic to hit, and don't blame him for charging. But, I didn't see my money being worth it for the few questions I was answering (which seemed to be the same over and over and over). It's all IMHO tho..

Not too bright, coming over here and asking how to cheat the system, when a few preludeonline.com moderators frequent this forum. The $6 fee covers the vast amount of bandwidth we use and some equipment updates. In addition, setup pages should be added soon. It's funny. . .Spoon resovoir covers cost 4 times the fee and offer significantly less in the way of potential benefits, but people don't seem to have a problem buying them.

Can anyone tell me if the 3rd gen forum has shaped up at all there? No offense to those who run the site, but the people in that forum were total jackasses before hp.com died. I NEVER saw any useful threads on there and it seemed like once a week someone asked the good old "do they make clears for this car?" or "does anybody make a carbon fiber hood?", etc. There was also **** like some lying noob claiming he bought the Gude package and bragging about it. Nobody at Gude will even confirm hp gains when asked, so I assume it does little to nothing significant for the B20 or B21a. I just felt like I was posting in a forum full of 16 year olds with rusted out $2,000 POS cars. I"ve put a great deal of time and work into mine, and I want to be able to ask questions and give imput to people who have done the same.

I felt like I had to pay $6 to answer people's questions.. I bought a manual so I rarely need to ask for help. I'll probably pay up anyway, there was a tonof knowledgeable people tere that you could bounce stuff off of when you were thinking up crazy ideas..

your probably one of the people I miss seeing around there. Hell, I'd almost pay the fee for you, especially with my swap fast approaching. While board traffic DID decrease after the switch to a paysite, the quality of posts tends to be much higher now. This forum has an incredible amount of info as well, including some REALLY knowledgable people.

Hey thanks Red, I didn't think anyone noticed! lol.. I'm probably going to send a payment to Malken in the next couple of days. In the meantime if there's anything you need, just shoot me an e-mail at Kevie88 (at) hotmail.com (without the spaces and a real @ symbol stupid e-mail bots.. ) . Actually, send me a test one anyway so I can add you to my contacts list ( I have to put my mail on exclusive because of the spam. )

Default it's not the paying part that got to me

It's not that I don't feel like paying $6... because I'd gladly do that. And have done that in the past donating to several webboards, whether they were struggling or not.

I can't say I didn't learn anything from po.com, because I did. Billy, James, Todd... there's a few names just to start. But, I really did feel my opinion wasn't valued, just because I wasn't an OT *****, and had under 1000 posts. That doesn't quite say anything for the fact that I've been around on the prelude boards for almost 4 years, and any old schooler will probably know who I am. I'm sure it sounds pretty cocky, and I hate it to come out that way... but I just decided to take a break from the boards, and that was a good time to do it.

Props to Dan and the rest for keeping up an amazing site, through the thick and the thin.

none of you guys seem to understand that to keep a site up it does cost $$$ for resources
even honda-tech uses resources
what if the owner got broke then had to close it down
i do think that 6 is ok but mam 6x3000 members or so
thats alotta $$$
that site has been up for so many years 2-3

i have gotten great deals from the classifieds and have gotten plenty of info
there are lots of informed people over there and guess what
they all have preludes so they get more hits n stuff for hust preludes

thatch im not talking about you. im not a member there because i was mainly just answering questions when i rarely visited there.

im talking to the people who think that its absurd to have to pay $6 for the return they get. i mean really, say you ask just one question: "how can i do a valve adjustment?" and you get an answer. well, you just saved $80 from the dealer. $6 isnt that big of a deal but when everyone pays it helps the bandwith costs. do you guys really think that they do it to make money? they do it to keep the resource alive so they dont have to go in their own pockets.

and dont give me that paypal **** because you can just the same snail mail a check.

At first, I thought I could go without PO.com, but after awhile, I realized its probably the most useful Prelude board I'd ever been on, so I paid the $6. Best $6 spent in my life!!

Actually I did realize that you were missing and knew that you knew your stuff. I was wondering where you had gone.
I can understand about taking a break from the boards though. Even I stopped visiting the site for a bit due to me just getting rundown with it all. As with anything sometimes a vacation is needed.

(Sorry this is adding to a non-technical thread. Just as an added note I have nothing against this site. I actually visit it quite frequently and was pretty excited that Corey was made the moderator of this forum. I'm confident it's in good hands.)

Its worth the 6bucks if you enjoy the site. I belive its 6 bucks a year, thats dirt cheap for a membership, plus, there are no pop ups, and keeps alot of the dead beats out.

Erik,

I remember you from when it was still H-A.net. You helped me fix my vent sliders and cables that were getting stuck and disconnectiing. We must have had ten posts back and forth which helped me finally solve the problem. Sorry to see that you aren't on Preludeonline.com, but I am glad you are still around.

Default nice to hear good words

Neel, Joon... names I haven't spoken in quite a while. It does mean quite a lot that people appreciated my assistance, and actually spoke up about it.

I'll eventually return and give my all again, but I've been busy with stuff... so forums go on the back burner. I'll have parts developing soon [hopefully], whether they go anywhere or not, I'll have them. Not to leave anyone in suspense, but I'm not going to say what they are anyway. I've been helping out with quite a few other projects, '86 944T (951), s4, '02 2.5RS, '86 quad mikuni carb (originally EFI) t3 turbo beater, 87/89 302 stang... there's been a bunch of stuff lately to play with. Plus school (Toyota/Lexus student).. one more semester to go. Then I'll be around more.

I hate to turn this into OT, and am going to cease it here (unless someone wants to move it to OT of some sort), but if anyone needs anything prelude related (and more specifically, anything jdm ba8/bb1/bb4, and some bb5/6/7/8 related), drop me an email, or hit me up on AIM. I'm always around.

$6 is nothing. I'd pay $20 if Malken would actually let me flame people over there. In all honesty, the admins at PO are the most level headed and consistent people that I have witnessed manage a board. PO.com will grow because it has the room to and because we are vigilent in our efforts to keep the BS to a minimum. That does not go for OT however. I've given up on that part of the board.
