I've been a member here for a while and some of you guys I consider good friends and others great acquiantences.
This is my Dilemna. I have a 93 Honda civic hatchback SI with a 2001 ITR head/block and 98 JDM ITR tranny.
NAB20C5 that used to be o nthe board alot is currently doing other things in his life that are more important so I have the opportunity to buy his car.
I don't owe very much on the civic but still a note is a note.
Eric's car is a 98 ITR. He has GSR suspension/brakes on it (along with the 4 lug conversion.....don't ask). NO wing or emblems (I could really care less). No back seat but 2 civic SI seats, full dash and carpet.
If I was to buy this car I'd take my motor with me my sparco steering wheel (And spoon shift ****). I'd leave the VIS carbon fiber hood, Vision corners, KYB AGX adjustable shox, Neuspeed springs, Neuspeed front lower tie bie and rear tie bar, ITR front upper tie bar, Custom Entertainment console with V-AFC, RSM, and Apex'i Auto timer, Apex'i N1 exhaust and integra radiator. Oh yeah my Volk Gram lights will be going with it.
? is do you think this is worth it.
I won't have a note anymore but Eric's car will need alot of parts....alot. Kewl thing is I can just buy the stuff I want (Tein suspension, Some advan's, Sparco's or Corbeau's etc).
Not sure what to do.
Sell my hybrid and get out of a note and start another project note free but knowing it needs alot of money to make me happy or just leave it alone and continue to pay off my civic.
What would you guys do????

Pay off the Civic. Sounds like you have a lot of $$ in the Civic. Anyways, you'll be back in debt again fixing up the ITR.

It's not like I'd be taking out a loan. The civic still needs some work too.
I'd be buying parts for the ITR out of my own pocket, where's the debt in that? And the differnece @ the end of the day would be owning a pretty nice (When I'm done with it) ITR. It'll probably take me 6 months to get the ITR where I want it as opposed to the civic taking a 1 more to pay off.

keep the civic.
Anyone else?
Hurrel - I've known you for little over 1-1/2 years. I think you'd be a lot happier w/ ITR shell than EG shell. I know how much you miss your '98 R and I'm pretty sure, you basically want to get back to that. Sure, parts will be needed w/ Eric's old ITR, but I think in the long run, you'll be a lot happier.

Yeah, it's very obvious. Heck, I never seen the car, but I miss it just looking at the pictures you've posted. Too bad the ricers did harm to it now...Anyway, do it. I believe Eric's car is clean (no accidnets). Come back to the ITR family.

I was thinking that as well when I looked @ the post.
I was basically defending the comment about being in debt over the integra. I would sell my civic to get into debt again for another integra. If I sell my civic I kill my note for an entire year and comeout (Assuming i can get what my car is worth) with enough to knock out 2 other bills. Looking @ the short term yeah it doesn't make much sense, but considering I'm trying to buy a house, get my wife a car and pay off my bills (And still participating in this hobby).
Put it this way, Cosworth and Black R have seen Eric's car. I'd make it look like it was worth 15,000-19,000 again.
ITR shell never in a wreck, only had numerous engines put in ti due to various rebuilds (Oh yeah no wing either, Not that I really cared anyway).

Common guys. I value everyone's opinion here.
If anyone can figure out an angle that I haven't that'd be good because I can't think of any other plusses or minusses I haven't thought of?!!!

Sounds like you will make out in the long run. I would get the Integra. Besides, it would make a fun project for you

Even though it may sound like I'm leaning towards the ITR I have to say that love my civic. I miss my ITR because I feel as though I never accomplished enough to make me happy to sell it (So this is kinda like a second chance opportunity).
I've had various 92-95 civics in my life (4 to be exact) and I'm still kinda nostalgic about them. I think I will always try to hold on to one (If I sell this one I'll probably buy another one in the future to mess around with).

No Eric was one of the 1st people to attempt to turbo charge an ITR. HE had gone thru various rebuilds and then decided to go with a bored out 2.0 ITR block. He sold his interior to a local in anticipation of getting some Saprco Torino's (He didn't want a back seat. He took the emblems off and the wing. The 5 lug to 4 lug conversion was done because he decided to turn the ITR in to a full blown drag car so he swap suspension (plus money) with another guy that bought the entire 5 lug conversion, brakes and suspension. He in turn got the guys GSR suspension.
Then he realized that he had other things in his life that were important, hence the reason why it "seems" like it was gutted.

Well, I say ITR. But if you take your motor out the civic are you just going to sell the civic shell with all the other goodies or are you going to put another engine in it for sale?
Also, dont forget if you take the motor out of the civic and put it in the ITR how much down time will you have before the ITR is up and running because I know you need a car to drive. So think about those cost invloved with immediately getting the ITR running so you can drive it.
I say go for it...projects ownz j00!

I can get my hands on a SI motor for 300 bux (Just need tranny and ECU). I can probably have the integra running in a weekend. I don't really drive myself to work these days so even if I have a few weeks of down time it wouldn't be too bad. I work downtown and after not have a running car for 4 months I think I've pretty much mastered the art of traveling atlanta with out a vehicle.
Would I take a wild guess. This is mike. I havent posted in here for a while. Since I do have an opinion here it tis, Keep the hybrid.
I know you think I cant stand honda's but if money wasnt an object, I would keep the civic. I would be happier with the hatch, believe it or not.
p.s. dont tell nobody else man!!! lol

Your a joker. Are you sure it isn't because your ITR has pissed you off to no end???
Its interesting that you'd say keep the civic.
I was really on the look out for a Civic shell but that has been harder to find.
