Default What's generally regarded as the "best" CF hood for the USDM Type R?

I remember there being a group buy a long time ago that Yoshi ran for an imitation Spoon hood that looked fookin' awesome, I can't find anything in the search though Is it safe to assume that fiber images = ricer garbage? What's the "best" brand of CF hood that preferibly does not require hood pins, and how much do they run shipped?

Thanks dudes

You want hoodpins. Best brand? VIS....

cf h00ds are no longer produced by factor x. I think your next option is either VIS or bodyshop nw (or a name something like that).

VIS.

Bodykits NW recently sold one of their 'hoods' to a member on this board, and ended up shipping him a VIS hood anyway.

What's all this junk about VIS customer support being absolute *** that the guys are saying in the best buy forum? Also, is $450 shipped a good price for one of these hoods?

That's a decent price, from VIS direct they're close to $700...but from someone else and get a discount...I've bought some hoods for friends and I was very impressed with their build quality.

I don't think anyone's service could be as bad as one of the above mentioned merchants.

Which carbon fiber hood is the lightest?

Good fitment and lightweight is all I need in a c/f hood.

Thats why maybe people can get away without using hood pins for VIS hoods. It is not as light as other cf hoods.

Oh ya. VIS customer service

My friend got a cf hood from JT (99 civic). It is really light. The edges are cut though. The fit is good.

What was the measured weight difference between the stock hood and the c/f hood?

Sorry never got a chance to put it on a scale. He got into an accident and changed his 98 front to a 99. The new hood can easily be open with my pinky finger though. Do no think that helps much.

I have actually heard that kaminari hoods are one of the best in terms of quality. VIS are not that expensive and fit very well.

I REALLY dislike the Kaminari hood, it looks like it's not full cf, the edges are solid black, not cf.

I went thru 3 different hoods and seen many other.

It seems to me that FiberImages is the lightest and fits better than most.

I noticed that is from the kaminari website. Have you had any experience with the hood or seen it in person?

I'll try to find more pics of the hood.

If you consider excellent fit, very lightweight, and good customer service "ricer garbage" then yes. I've had my Fiber Images hood for over 2 years, and it's held up perfectly, not one problem with it fading, cracking, etc.

I "had" a kaminari hood in my "stunna stage" and I will tell you the fit and
finish are awesome, I have yet to see a hood in person the fit and had a
weave as nice as it did. It bolted right on plus the rubber sear also snapped
right into the front predrilled holes. The one HUGE downfall is the scoop which
is why it's gone now. Now I have to save up for a good hood for the JDM
conversion I just bought.
