Default Tranny issue ... blinking "S"

This has been happening for a while now. I eventually got over the blinking "S" in my d@mn face after all these many months. But, the black electrical tape that I recently put over that area is really tacky-looking...

Funny thing is...the transmission shifts fine.

I ran a search and came up with some people who recommended resetting the transmission control unit, which I will try tomorrow.

The local dealer stated that the solenoids located on top and bottom of the transmission may need to be replaced...what do you guys think of this advice?

Thanks for any and all responses.

located on the top of the transmission, towards the rear. A bit of a pain in the tail to get to, but if you don't drop the sensor key like me , it's a 10 minute job
