D16Y7 head on D15B2 block with 189,200 miles. Is this safe?
I have aquired a d16y7 head for 40 bucks and was wondering how will this effect longetivity on a stock d15b2 motor with this many miles. Plus, what kind of performance gains will I see?
i am going to put one on my dx motor also. mine has 190000 miles on it. i'll let you know next month when i get around to it. you should only need a cam gear.

D16Y7 has small compression chambers, 34.6cc. i don't know what CR you'll yeild with the D15. BUT, you can always get an A6 crank and pistons and get 10.6:1 CR with that combo
the intake and exhaust are 1mm bigger than the A6 ones. again i know little about D15 and it's components, but presuming that the head is similar to that of a D16A6, you will gain some flow, get an A6 cam, or better yet, aftermarket one for A6. overall it is a very good find for the money. i am planning to use that head in my A6 turbo rebuild.

and DXs have higher compression to begin with compared to the Si.
9.2:1 vs. 9.1:1

But that's on 88-92 dx motors. I was told that any D-series head after 96 would bump up the compression ratio, and have better flow. Did I hear wrong?
The only reason I'm asking is because I actually like the little d15 motor. I'm willing to dump about $1500.00 or so into it. I know, I hear, "drop a b16", or " that little motor has no torque", but Im not into all out power. Im actually more concerned with looks and handling now than back when I had a 2000 Si. I just want a reliable SOHC non-VTEC motor.
