Front upper control arm questions
I have been slowly installing an energy master kit since sept. Everything is in except for the front upper cont. arm bushings. Now i just took them out tonight to bring to the press shop in the morning, but the ball joints are shot. I was told that i cant buy new upper ball joints and press them in, i have to buy whole new upper arm assemblys, but i want to retain the ones i have. I am going to have the bushings and ball joints pressed out, energy bushings pressed in, now what ball joints can i buy to have pressed in so i dont have to buy new arms? I cant shell out the dough for whole new arms, and knowing honda's swapabilities when ball joints can be pressed to the uppers? I know somebody must have done this, so ghurus let me know the deal quick cause i have to drive this car for the weekend. It is a 91 si if it matters.

Untrue you can buy just the upper ball joints. I was told the same thing but Specialty Products Company sells upper ball joints I think they were like 35 bucks a piece. Part number 67075 SP-HONDA/ACURA BALL JOINT
A buddy of mine had the same ball-joint misery on his '89 accord. The uppers are very similar to the rex. He bought the ball-joints, and realized that they'd be almost impossible to get into the arms.
The solution? Find a 2-ton press, and have a good idea of what you're doing to get them together.
His accord has been running fine since June after the press, and they still look fine.
But it's a LOT easier to buy the arms with the joints installed. Trust me.

i bought those spc balljoints,,,this is what i've done so far,,i hacksawed the balljoint off,,,the part on top where its weilded on,,,once you get that off the holes perfect for the new balljoints but the problem im having is that when i tighten the top scew it moves the whole balljoint to the side,,so i'm gonna take em to a buddy of mine and ask him to weild them in so that they dont move while i tighten them,,,i got skunk2 coil-overs down as far as they go and my wheels are just about straight,,the only problem im having is that when i go over big bumps or big pot holes quick the top of the balljoint hit s the frame of the car,,,but other than that i like em
Ok I will admit i put mine in myself and it was a little annoying, but a friend of mine just got a bearing shop to pres the old ones out and new ones in for like 20 bucks for both, so lets see about $90 for the joints alone plus pressing or $240 to get the ones from honda take your pick
i just bought new upper control arms with ball joints from s&g import auto parts, they were 65 a pop... not bad i thought plus its all new and i dont have to mess around with the press in kind. i was looking for the press in kinda for a while but couldnt find them and for only 65 for the whole *** you cant go wrong
