exhaust piping question...
I have a new muffler, and I wanted to make a whole catback. A shop around here will weld it onto a new 2.25" catback for 70 bux. The only problem is i am pretty sure they'll be using crush bends. So my question is: which is more restrictive, the stock piping (1.75" or 2", not sure), or 2.25 w/ crush bends?
the smaller the piping, the more restriction it adds. but, with crush bends it will add turbulence to the exhaust flow. your best bet is order mandrel bent pipes from jeg's then have the shop cut it up and fabricate it from there if you are that concerned.
wow its a common misconception, that smaller exaust pipe is bad. this is not always true, it really depends on how much power your engine is producing, if you only have a few mods, smaller is actually better. If you have turbo you will need bigger exaust piping....check this link out..... http://www.hondalife.com/articles/backpressure.htm
well, soon i will be running nitrous *hopefully*, so I want something a little bigger; but i can't afford mandrel bent piping right now. So it's stock, or crush bends...
