Buying Already Modified Cars can be dangerous
Just to let you all know , well some of you.. I have a seen a lot of post about buying high milage cars with Mods already installed.. This is BAD IDEA.. for one , you dont know if the guys beatin the hell outta the ride with all these mods.. some probably de-tune the car.. and can be very expensive to repair.. also , how many of those miles were spend racing , or saying " what the hell lets drag till she quits cuz' im sellin it anyways" just some things to consider all..
cheers

You need to look at the whole car to see if it's been maintained. Just saying 'don't buy modified cars is silly.. I'd rather have my bagged on, modified and well maintained car over someone with no mods who never took it past 3krpm and never changed the oil..

I bought a 12 year old car with i/h/e and it has been the best thing ever. They are the exact mods I would have done anyway, and that saved me over $1000. Otherwise, the car is very clean, and I'm very happy with it.
trust me alot of people sell modded car that have problems that te seller doesn't mention. Hell i sold my old 93 turbo civic for 5k, and it had bad blowby and the turbo was pissin oil into the charge pipe. Did i also mention it had about 180k miles on it. But its ok cuz i bout a stock 4th gen lude
mine was not modded at all... and i'm glad it wasnt... its been VERY good to me.. no major probs whatsoever for over 10k miles(knock on wood)..
Just because a car is stock at the moment you bought it, doesn't mean it never was. Takes about a hour to take off a CAI/Header/Exhaust and to uninstall a nitrous system.
Whenever you buy a used car (even a new one) you're taking a risk. Thats how it is.

that's why you gotta feel the vibes.. If you want you can tell exactly how the car was treated, just focus on the owner and talk to him. the vibes will show all the answers. hehe. Bought mine stock and it was pretty bad everything was great but it had GOLD RIMS AND GOLD EMBLEM FOR THE Prelude AND HONDA front emblem. it was hell! and still is !!!
well, that depends. for example, you can buy a stock car from some dude that told you he babied the car, pay good money for it and then it falls apart the next day.
or you could buy my car with mods and it will be perfectly fine. yes i raced it, yes i drove it hard sometimes, but i pampered it. i change oil every 1500-2000 miles, always change everything on time, do scheduled tune-up's ahead of time, always made sure everything is in tip-top shape. it really depends on how the car was taken care off. if you see that every little detail is clean and works fine, chances are the guy took good care of it. but no matter what, buying any used car wihtout warranty is a risk.

Being a Carsalesman myself I have to agree with BB1. Any car you buy used is a risk. Especially if it is out of factory warranty or you did not purchase an extended warranty. Some people will tell you to only buy from a private seller. I prefer myself to buy from a dealership that has a checkover process before they put it on the lot. That way you can ask for checkover records to see if they noted any problems with the car. Either way from a dealer or private seller I would take it to a reliable mechanic and have it thoroughly checked over before I buy it. Just my .02
