What are some of the funniest **** you've seen happen at the tracks?

For me, it was this one night at one of the local tracks where they hold an "Import Challenge" type night where they run heads up, and quickest Import wins a trophy and some $$$.

I tell ya, it must have been RICER night cuz it was hilarious! We only went to test n tune our new hybrid, so we didn't participate in the event. But watching from the stands, it was just as good as watching Tom&Jerry on the cartoon network!

First of all, the newbies didn't know how to stage. They kept rolling past the staging light beams. The starter guy would always tell them to backup and correct them. This was every other car! So later that night, some "Stunna" kid in his Civic w/18" chrome rims + bodykit + aluminum spoiler comes up. He doesn't look where he's going...rolls right past the lights and stages his car WITH THE REAR WHEELS! LOL! But the kid is so busy concentrating on the the tree that he doesn't look back at the starter guy waving him back. He brings his rpms to the limiter... ..and sits waiting. The starter guy just about gave up and waved to the tower to let them run. The stands went wild and we all stood up and stomped our feet! *All 10 of us* Kid must have thought he was cool, cuz he looked over and gave us the PEACE sign and leaned back into his seat. LMAO!

 

once i saw some kids spraying their valve cover with NAAAWZ... lol

then there was the time these kids were changing their tires and they were using
a jack with the "cup" removed and the car slipped and the jack went through their
radiator and then the header. priceless

 

I`ve seen people try to take off in reverse quite a few times

 

i've seen that before except for taking out the radiator... they took out their ic instead.

 

Everytime I got to the track, I see someone fall off of their mini bike.

some kid rolled past the staging lights...and kept rolling, and kept rolling...lol

he was waaaaay past the friggin TREE before he realized he had gone to far.

Last week at Palmdale, some dude next to while we were in line was constantly revving the **** **** outt his car. On top of that...I can only see his head...he's leaning back/sideways, holding the steering wheel stunna style. I can hear him telling his friends how he's gonna run hella faster cuz he's got some new ****. I end of beating him by like 3 seconds. I didn't hear him say anything afterwards.

a man going nuts that he only ran 14's. it was in a talon tsi, he popped the hood and was going crazy. he was like "wtf, why did i only run 14's", a closer look revealed a spark plug had somehow come out hahaha. the must be pretty quick w/ all four.

 

Forgot to mention, I was at the tracks on my stock, bald, 13inch tires...and some dude insists that it's really good for traction because in sense they are now slicks.

Best ever...

Its between 2 times. One was a kid with a $40k built Supra, 1st time at the track. The track had new asphalt and it was cold out side. The thing hit second and smacked into the guard rail. Good times....
2)A yellow rice-tacular MR2. It was pulling up to the lights and it's APC style muffler just fell off. The starter just laughed as he kicked it to the side...

I about died laughing both times.

 

I watched a guy in a GTO drive full throttle thru the quarter mile, thru the shut off area and full speed into the sand trap. Later, I asked him why he did that (I was working at the track as a tech inspector) and he said he just didn't know where the end of the strip was. The guy was in the USMC

 

long time ago, I was in the pits putting race fuel in my car, this guy comes over to me and said his car is running slow and he thinks its the fuel he's using wasnt getting the job done (he had some h/b with NAAWZ) and if he could get some of my race fuel, I told him I gotta go run now go get a container caus eI need to take my fuel with me (bracket racing/round robin), he was pitted across from me and went and got a stirofoam flask which had juice or somehting in it and he threw out while running back over to me. I'm getting ready to head out and am already strapped into my car he opened my door and grabbed the container and started pouring gas into the container before I could say stop ... I told him you cant put it in there, he didn;t understand what I meant, he closed my container put it back in my car and off his merry way with his styrofoam container full of race fuel ... few steps later I was cracking up so hard, just casue he had this puzzled look on his face.

My favorite is when I saw a stunna with a LX 4-dr (with the stock motor) with some plug wires and a performance oil cap revving the $hit out of his car in the pits with the hood open.... I go over to him and ask "What are you doing..?" his reply was..."Im tunning yo.." OMFG....
Another was a moron with a hole in his hood and an AEM short ram sticking straight up in the air..wtf?!

 

there was this kid i know with a 3000gt vr-4, he raced motocross with me and always had 3 new bikes a ton of new gear atleast 2 handpainted helmets ect, well his dad put about 20 grand into this 3000gt, they had a dyno chart with about 500 hp at the wheels... and this kid was all stoked because he was racing for the first time, so i go to watch his run and he brings it to about the limiter and dumps the clutch, did a four wheel burnout and started going sideways, so he shifted and did the same thing in second, he ran about a 15.9 or something, went back to the pits, picked up his dad and left, i saw the car for sale a week later. then i talked to him about 6 months after and he said he was so scared that he sold the car and bought a toyota tundra the next week

 

at the last test and tune of the season a brand new black z28 came out of the whole completely sideways only to over correct and spin the other way around and slam the wall going backwards.....all by the 100'....we got the a-hole chant going....the driver then was interviewed by the track commetator during some downtime...turns out it was some girl driving her friends car, he was in the car also, (must have bought her along so she would impressed when he beat all those fast and furious civics yO! ) because she said it looked fun......and she wouldn't be doing it again any time soon.

 

So far the funniest things I've seen is someone rear-end someone else in the line just waiting to head to the burn-out box...couple of people wearing afro wigs while racing, and some other odd-ball idiotic crap, you guys can imagine what's at the strip when all of the rice boys come out to play.

funniest thing I have ever seen was a crowded street, with a full race car. The guy, whom is famous, but we be un-named, backed the car out into san gabrial blvd, and since it was like a 500 HP prelude motor, was hella torquey...

When he went to drive it straight in the right lane, the seat was not bolted down and it fell backward and his foot floored it. He flew all the way into the back of the hatch, and slammed into the tailgate hatch and just dissappeared as the car boned out down the street!!!

We couldn't see him anymore, he was all jacked up in the spare tire area!!!

It was a FREAKING MIRACLE he didn't hit another car. I mean a miracle.

But I was laighing so hard, I was crying. Everyone was.

That was back in 1996.

Funniest thing ever, of all time. Car related.

it tickles me when the boneheads at our track on street fight night pull up to the christmas tree to stage(and the tree is beside their door glass).

i saw an 2001 jetta at the track and at about the 1/8 mile point the hood just flew open and hit his winshield and he kept going. pretty funny.

 

i'd say either my friend jeromy sitting at the staging line unaware of his hatch being completely open, they let him race anyway and he ran a decent 13.7 allmotor b16.
or the few civics you always see with 17's on the front and stockies on the back? what are they thinking., and the idiots that "warm up" their street tires? and the people who drive through the puddle and wonder why they cant hook up in their stock car.

 

Here's a Don Garlits story...He was changing his clutch after a 260 mph run. The used clutch, still 300 degrees hot, was sitting on the ground. A guy walked up and asked him if he minded if he looked at Garlits' clutch. Garlits said he didn't mind and the guy picked up the clutch with his bare hands. He immediately dropped it and Garlits looked at him and said, Hot? The guy said no, it just doesn't take me long to look at a clutch and walked off.

 

a brand new ferrari(sorry if mispelled) and a new ss camaro line up to race.....so everybody jumps out to see the cars run. Their first time at the track, so first of all they cant even stage. They keep passing the lights....so 2 mins later they are good to go. So the lights drop.....and they just stay there, literaly like 10 secs. Everybody is screaming GOOOOOOOOOOOOO finally they go and they run like high 15's......lol

 

How would having 20% more rubber on the ground give worse traction?

 

That just HAD to be Carlsbad.
