vehicle speed sensor is not working properly....
My vehicle speed sensor is not working properly 97 sedan with b16a2 swap. The speed fluctuates (spelling?) alot, sometimes it does not function at all. I get a cel too.
Does a faulty vss affect anything else than my speedometer? Should I replace it asap?
What should I check first?

my friend with 90 integra with b16a1 swap does the exact same thing. sometimes cel comes on and sometimes speedometer works, when he first got it, it use to fluctuate sometimes working and sometimes not. but after about 2 weeks, just started working again. hmm, weird.
check the connection, if it has oil in it then the bottom half is bad. if water gets in it then it will flutter like that. if the sensor it self is bad just take it apart, the two 10mm screws, the top half will come off and you can use any one off a 92+ 5-speed, it will work!
On automatic cars the VSS effects when the tranny shifts, but since your car is probally a manual it wont have any effect on shifting points. It also sends your vehicle speed to your speedometer, and has a little to do w/ your air/fuel maps.
