HELP!! My g/f's 00 Prelude broke down. Both belts came off. What could it be?
To make a long story short. My girlfriend's car broke down and when i popped the hood, both of the belts had popped off. The odd thing is, they are fully intact with no damage. The only thing i did notice is that the bottom pulley is very loose and wobbely. The dealership can't get to it till tomorrow, so in the meantime, i'm trying to figure out what went wrong. Could something have seized and messed everything up? Any thought? Thanks
It's the key that sticks into your crank, it has bent and caused the pulley to come lose and force the crank bolt out.
You'll need a new key and crank pulley bolt.
Here's what my key looked like

That's funny...cuz the same thing happened to my H22a4 too. I just torqued it back up to spec and it's okay.....for now. Didn't check the key though...I don't think it's bent?
Just got the car back from Honda. They replaced both belts and just tightened the crank pulley. They said there should be no other damage. And they also said the pulley was slightly damaged and have back ordered a new one. If everything was under warranty, how come they charged her for both belts (which was the loose pulley's fault they were damaged), and $85 for a diagnostic test? What gives! Shouldn't everthing be free of charge due to the warranty?
