crank pulley wobbling
so a couple weeks back my crank bolt came lose and i just retightened the bolt back down. now it just started making a sound like rod knock so i check the pulley and it was lose again so i tighten it down, start the car and my friend notices my crank pulley isnt even spinning. did the woodruff key fall out and i can just take pulley off and replace it or does it sound worse?
car is a 95 civic with d15 (if it matters lol)

Re: crank pulley wobbling
so i finally had time to take it apart (this is 2nd car so i let it sit for awhile). the keyway was gone and the slot on the crank where it goes is sheered a little bit on the tip. there is still more than half of the shaft that is not stripped or broken. think it will be ok with just that little bit on the tip missing if i throw a new keyway in?

Re: crank pulley wobbling
not throw it in, i mean get a new crank pulley with new key. the slot on the shaft still has atleast half that is not damaged and the front is barely sheered

Re: crank pulley wobbling
I had the same thing happen to my 93 del sol si with a D16z6.
The fix was to clean the crankshaft notch with acetone, mix up some JB Weld and put it in the crank slot. Before the JB weld sets up install a new crank pulley and new woodruff key and torque it down. Give it a couple of hours or overnight to set. Next day drive away. I did this over a year ago and I don't even think about it anymore.

i had the same experience with a 95 accord the crank pulley came loose and the bolt wasnt coming out so we had to force it out with a power tool. then we retreaded the crankshaft and it worked fine for a while. make sure your crankshaft still takes the bolt the whole way if you are thinking about installing the crank pulley again
