Octane rating req. to run 11.1 cr
like the topic says, does anyone know what octane you would need to run for 11.1 compression. I live in Utah so we have 91octane...I could mix toluene if needed..
Thanks
Thanks
I use 93 octane on my stock H22 compression. It doesn't hurt to use the same for an even higher compression motor...For best results though, additives are nice
I really don't know what an 11.1:1 CR would need for everyday driving though.

A great resource is Sunoco Race Fuels-check out their website and they do have a free phone link. Union 76 also has a site.
The answer depends on the altitude you are at along with some other things. 11-1 is not extreme and you should be fine running 91. The ECU will compensate usually. If by chance you have done something other than increase the CR with pistons, that will add to the equation.
Whatever you do-stay away from adding anything to the fuel. Fuel blending is both a science and an art best left to experts.

I'm runnin 11.8:1 with 93 octane and no probs. I don't even get that much Knock retard from only using 93. I have also ran 100 unleaded and with a lil tunning of the VAFC I got some noticable power from it, but I would say anything above 91 and you're good to go.
