I have all four Spoon bars(Both top and bottom) on my R but I can't really feel any differance in the handling at all. I would recumend you getting the front lower and Rear upper bar. The rear lower bar was a waste of money because the stock R has one already. But, in Spoon defense I did install the bars not long after I got the car so I didn't get a good ideal how the stock R handled.

cusco front lower tie bar, i did notice a difference on my car. Less prone to understeer. IMHO the front suspension needed this brace.

My brother just bought all the spoon bars (upper and lower) it makes a CONSIDERABLE difference. Worth every cent! I highly recommend the Spoon upper and lower bars. Your DC2 will feel a heap better.

I just ordered my spoon rear strut tower bar

I noticed when he put in the rear bars the *** of he's DC2R felt considerably more planted. We did before and after tests and the Spoon rear bars (upper and lower) sure do work. It also helps to at least have some nice Springs eg. Spoon or Apexi GT. Personally I think they're a steal for the price

What were these tests, how were they conducted and what results did you gather?

honestly, don't waste your money on lower-tie bars on typeR's.

first off, ITR comes w/ rear lower tie bar.
second off, if you firm up the front w/ cusco, you're more likely to get understeer (dunno, if that's what you call planted).

Correct me if I am wrong - but I feel that lower bars and the strut bars are not meant to be added to correct or induce any handling characteristic into the car. The bars simply keep an already tuned suspension geometry in place so it can function optimally...

It doesn't directly contribute to the handling as you have mentioned, but you'd be surprised what a sturdy strut bar will do to your car's handling due to stiffening of chassis. (i.e. Mugen front strut bar on stock ITR = massive understeer... even w/ Mugen rear strut bar.)

Though i dun know if the spoon bars work or not, i do know one thing. My friend has all 4 of the spoon bars on his car and the front lower bar would always scrape the road cause it hangs SOOOO low. Maybe it's also because his car is so low because he is running spoon/showa coilovers which limits the ride height even when set at the highest setting. Everytime, it hits, it will bend the bar upwards causing it to rub against the header making a VERY annoying noise at idle (the vibration from the header hitting the bar). Everytime it hits, you will have to go under the car and bend the bar back into place. I have done this for him a serveral times and it takes no effort at all in bending the bar back which makes me think, if the bar is so weak, how can it prevent the chassis from flexing under high G corners?? To clarify, i should say that it's not the bar that bends, it's the brackets that mounts the bar to the subframe. I could be wrong though. Anyone has the same experience??

Mugen rear upper strut, pretty good oversteer. Addition of 23mm jdm sway... more firm and a little more oversteer. Of course you have to 'induce' this oversteer... (i.e., lift-throttle oversteer) I think Flux is right, but the bars do tighten up an already firm chassis like Cosworth said. You have to know how to control and use the extra bars properly.

The ITR has a rear lower stiffener on the subframe, but it is not actually a tie bar. However, tie bars are bling according to my research and for the ITR, there are many other more useful suspension components you can buy with the money you saved not buying lower tie bars. (good upper struts, sways..)

This is what I also wanted to know. If the front lower tie would benifit in the understeer department. Im trying to decide if I should get one of these and keep my stock front sway. Or get this bar and a bigger front sway. I have a LS and plan on getting the ITR 22 or 23 rear sway. I might just try the lower front tie bar first and see if how it is with the rest of my set up.

The strut bars really make a huge difference. I have all the strut bars from Benen Industries on my Type R. I put them on one at a time so I could see how much difference each bar made after it was on. They are incredible. The cars handling is much more responsive than before without any bars on. If you aren't familiar with Benen Industries they make six different bars for the integra/civic. Front Upper, front cross member brace, front lower, rear upper, rear strong bar, and rear lower. I have all six bars on my car, along with the stock lower rear crossmember brace and the stock rear strong bar. So I have a total of 8 bars on my car. All the bars have no pivot points on them unlike most others including Spoon bars. Take a look at them, all but the front upper is on the site. http://www.benen.com

Any solid construction non-pivot point will do you right! Cusco, Benen, Carbing and quite a few other companies make non-pivot point lower bars.

Sorry i don't have any pictures of the bars on my car. I haven't taken pictures of them yet. The car is currently in a million peices while the engine is getting built. I probably won't have pictures of them until next spring. The front cross member brace is a bar that is bolted on top of the front cross member, it sits right in front of the steering rack. A factory tubular one comes stock on integras. If you look behind your engine it will be right there just look at the steering rack and you can't miss it if you have one.

I have the ITR front and rear strut tower bars and Tanabe front and rear lower tie-bars in my GS-R. I can't really notice any difference, or maybe I'm just not very sensitive on the improvement. However, I agree with Flux on the function of these bars - to stiffen the chassis/suspension geometry so the suspension can function optimally. Here are few pics of the Tanabe bars:
