1993 Civic Si. Bone stock, rescue this classic. NorCal
Sonoma, California. 1993 Honda Civic Si - Mechanic Special. Priced to go. $1,500. Fantastic project starter and priced to get it out of my driveway.
Clean Title. 241,000 miles. Engine and Tranny run strong, with recent bearing noise. Recently passed sniffer smog test but failed visual (see below). I don’t have the time or energy to bring this classic back up to speed.
I purchased this car in 2022 from the original, elderly owners. The only “modification” is the paint job they got, which needs to be polished back to life (see the up close photo when wet), and a new muffler installed after the original failed. Paint is an odd dark brownish with minimal purple flake which actually looked decent when I was driving it. Interior is in decent shape for its age. Exterior needs love after being side swiped while parked on the street. When side swiped it dented left front fender, and pulled off the front bumper and left blinker. Bumper is actually straight and in good shape, mounts just tore free, it could be rigged back on. No structural damage to vehicle. Minor other little dings on body from 30+ years of life.
Mechanically the transmission started making the classic Input Shaft Bearing and throw out bearing noise a couple thousand miles ago. But shifts fine. Original owners stated trans had been replaced sometime after 200k miles. Car has mostly been parked since it got sideswiped on the street. Needs tires. It recently passed the sniff test but failed smog because they could not get a timing reading, need to check out the pulleys to see why, but shortly after that I was driving around the block and heard a sharp bearing failure noise from the water pump area, and it now sounds like something on that side has rough bearings. Parked since then. No coolant or oil leaks, never overheated. Always drove perfectly until these sounds made me park it.
Would love to see this go to an enthusiast who can bring it back to life since I can't.
It will start right up from cold and run fine. Test drives will be limited as I do not want to grenade the motor from loose bearing parts until a repair is done. Any purchaser will sign bill of sale stating it needs mechanical work to drive safely and pass smog, and will need to be towed home. Currently registered as Non Op and up to date with DMV. ***Trying to locate car title after moving homes, however I have the paperwork from DMV to complete the sale.***
Before parking it had the few old honda quirks like cruise control not functioning, speedo not functioning (odo and trip, and all other gauges work fine), power sunroof sometimes needs a helping hand but it works and doesn't leak, stock stereo non functional, left wiper and rear wiper need replacement, etc.
