Default Cutting down Coil Springs

On our 03 Accord I4 cyl in the past I changed all four strut assembly complete (aftermarket parts) and the fronts are now Stiffer then before. Can the frt coil springs be cut down 1 coil too make it ride a little softer or is this a bad idea?
thanks ahead of time on any help

That’s the opposite of how a spring works, it would become stiffer if you cut it.

It’s generally a terrible idea to cut springs, for a multitude of reasons. Are you sure it’s not just feeling stiffer because you replaced your old worn out junk with fresh parts?

We are the only owners so we know this car very well, both of us have the same thoughts with it being bumpier or bouncer then before the change over. It was a much much softer ride from 7 miles from new to just over 300K when struts were all changed out.

If you replaced with aftermarket parts it's certainly possible. They may use the same spring rate for I4 and V6 configs and the valving is likely different than the oe dampers. f you replaced with oe parts and they are the correct ones for the car, it's more likely that you're noticing just how worn out your old stuff was. At 300k, your old springs were certainly softer than they were when new.

Is the car higher than original (or before replacing parts)?

Seams like the front is pretty much the same height off the gound like always but the rear seams taller off the ground maybe one or so inches from top tire to top of arch in wheel well.
