1988 Civic Hatchback steering knuckle problem
I searched threads and found nothing on this topic. If I missed it, I am truly sorry. There is a huge wealth of info on this forum.
Previously, I changed out some front suspension parts on my Civic. I was tired, cold, in the dark and tired. I made the mistake of over tightening the upper ball joint when installing the new parts (I did not use an impact...). I understood my mistake right away. I shimmed it with washers and was going to get back to it and correct my mistake. As suspected, the upper hole in the steering knuckle has increased in size due to my over torque.
It seems as if nobody sells a new knuckle. I found some used steering knuckles at various junk yards in the midwest so I might go that route and hope for the best.
Does anyone know if they sell sleeve kits for this steering knuckle? If so, then I could pay a machine shop to press the sleeve in and hone it out as appropriate.
Does anyone know if aftermarket performance steering knuckles are available? Does anyone know if there are other vehicles that use a compatible steering knuckle?
Any other suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks,
JJ

Hard to believe you expanded the conical Ball joint opening. How did you check it wasn't the ball joint that stretched?
If you really want to proceed, just put some metal strips in the hole. It'll be fine.
I've never used a torque wrench on ball joints. Get it good and move it to the next cotter pin hole. Done.
