Question about VTEC pin (D16Y7 → D16Y8 with P28 and OBD2→OBD1 harness)
Hey guys, how's it going?
I have a question I want to ask before connecting VTEC to my setup:
Car: 1999 Honda Civic LX (Originally D16Y7, OBD2B)
Engine: D16Y8 (with VTEC)
ECU: P28 (OBD1)
Adapter: OBD2 → OBD1 harness
The harness is still from the LX, i.e., without VTEC, so I'll need to pull the solenoid wire.
The question is: do I connect this new wire to A4 (as in the P28 diagram) or to B12 on the OBD2 harness?
From what I've researched, the harness converts A4 from P28 to B12 on the OBD2 harness, but I wanted to confirm with someone who has already done the same swap (Y7 → Y8 using harness and P28).

Make sure that your conversion harness does in fact have a wire that connects A4 on the OBD-1 side to the B12 location on the OBD-2B side of the conversion harness. If so, connect the new VTEC wire to the engine harness side (B12 in the OBD-2B plugs) so that if and when you need to unplug the conversion harness or remove the engine harness, you can do so without cutting your VTEC wiring.
