So my 99 Accord wont start. I just had a new fuel pump put in and the car ran great for a week before just not starting again. The battery is charged, there is over 1/2 a tank of gas, the plugs are getting spark, the relay is clicking, and the pump is getting power and turning on. Am i right to check the fuel filter next? And where is it?
Based on what you said, I would make sure that the injectors are firing by putting a "noid" light on one of the injector connectors. If the light flashes when you crank, you need to check for compression. I know that you said you had spark, so the timing belt is OK, but sometimes their is limited compression due do what ever. If the compression is low, (less than 120psi???) then put some oil in the cylinders via the spark plug holes to help. No more than an ounce. I have seen this before a few times. Debris on the valves or more likely, the cylinder rings are not sealing. If you get it started the rings and pistons heat up to start working properly again. That has been my experience.
If you don't have a noid light, spray carb cleaner in the intake, and see if the engine fires off. Then you know it is fuel related, but you still need to see if the injectors are being grounded by the fuel computer or if then there is no fuel delivery (your fuel filter concern) -- You have to have 3 thing: spark, fuel and compression. I don't know about where the fuel filter is on this ride. Others can help you there. Good Luck!
I found out that the fuel filter is suppose to be an integrated part of the fuel pump. Way to go Honda!
so, you may be on to something here since the fuel pump was replaced. Do check for fuel delivery at the fuel rail.
