2007 2.4 cylinder 2 misfire
07 2.4 186k miles. Car ran fine on my way to work. Was about 25 miles out and I put the hammer down to merge. Noticed that my cel was flashing when I looked down at my speed. So I pulled out my code reader and it said knock sensor(which is a code that would come and go from time to time) and #2 misfire. Was fine at 2,500rpms plus. Well mostly anyway. At idle and low rpms can def tell there is a bad miss. Got to work and pulled the plug on the coil and no change so yep def that cylinder. Put a new coil in and nothing so looked at the plug and it had some
oil on it and a bit of carbon so Napa had one and still a miss. At this point I had no choice and had to drive it home since I was 2.5 hours from home. Pulled the injectors and looked ok with just a bit of carbon but ohm’ed fine and holes were clear. Even switched injector to #1 with no change.
Today ran a compression test and 1-3-4 all have 180psi. Cylinder 2 has 0 psi(tried multiple times) so ok I think maybe a broken spring or bent valve. Pull the valve cover and everything looks ok. Lash is a bit tight on #2 0.22mm is still kinda tight so def out of spec but would that be enough to keep the valve open and cause 0 psi? Rockers are loose at tdc. Kinda at a loss here now also pretty upset that I’ve only had this car a year and im
already doing this work to it. Considering I got almost 300k trouble free miles out of my 01 and it was beat pretty heavy on.
Im pretty handy but pretty much at this point this is all the further I’ve ever been into a
motor so I need some direction.
