Front brake issue on 1990 Honda civic (auto)
So I replace my front rotors pads because the old one’s were rusted and cracked and I flushed out the brake fluid and refilled it like usual. But my brake pedal still feels like there’s no resistance to it and I have to push the pedal all the way down for the front brakes to work( I have no rear drum brakes rn and I need to replace them) Im thinking because of no rear brakes that might be the reason the pedal feels like that and the car doesn’t really stop? Im just wondering if anyone could help or give some advice?
It really sounds like the main issue is that your rear brakes are not working at all. On older Civics, the brake pedal feel and stopping power depend heavily on both front and rear working together.
If the rear drums are out, the pedal will usually sink down with very little resistance. I’d recommend fixing the rear brakes first, then re-bleeding the whole system (front + rear) to make sure no air is left in the lines. That should improve the pedal feel a lot.
