b16a redline issues
Hey guys I got a b16a swap 95 civic ex currently hard cutting at 7000 at WOT in 1st gear and around 6500 WOT in 2nd gear like its redlining
but when im not wide open i can rev it all the way out to 8000+ havent found a solution online anyone know if its an TPS or ECT issue?

Your problem is much more likely to be bad capacitors/dampening devices in the tachometer itself than the MAP or TPS sensors...
There are a couple of basic observations that can confirm this theory: When you slowly raise the RPM so that you can reach 8000 RPM, pick a gear and visually notate the vehicle speed at 8000 RPM. When you attempt to accelerate rapidly, do you still reach the same speed in the chosen gear even though the tachometer doesn't reach the 8000 RPM rev limit ? Also, before this issue began, were you aware of what engine RPM VTEC engaged ? Does it now appear to switch over at a LOWER RPM on your tach ?
If so, you need to either replace the tach/cluster with a known good one or have your tach repaired.

i had this issue happen with a bad cluster so i swapped the cluster i know its not the cluster because the rpm when i plug in my hondata rpm is similar to the tac which is how i got the 6500 in 2nd gear
Do you have different redlines set for each gear ? Also, notate which gear your sensor screen shows and make sure that it actually matches the gear you are in. If your transmission isn't selected correctly (and if you have modified the gearing or final drive, you will have to manually enter those values), choose the correct one. These two calibration issues could cause the symptom you describe.
Also, if you have launch control enabled, sometimes merely resting your foot on the clutch pedal can engage this feature and short red-line the engine. Make sure this is disabled during testing.
