I have 2012 civic ex and its had intermittent noise from the pulleys like a bad bearing on and off since I got it last year. I've read this is common complaint? I couldn't tell if it was idler or tensioner so I replaced both and both pulley bearings felt very rough. The noise went away for month or two now is back. I used OEM parts so I have no idea where to go from here. It's obviously a pulley bearing noise but I've replaced any that could be the source as it's definitely either tensioner or idler. Anyone else had similar issues?

 

I had the same issue in my 06 SI. A/C compressor clutch started making noises and had to replace the A/C compressor.

 

If the new pulleys didn’t fix it, check the alternator or A/C pulley since they can sound the same. Also, look at the belt condition. A stethoscope can help find the exact source.

 

I fixed it, took sandpaper to the idler pulley as it was smooth and causing the squeek.
