16 Honda pilot turn signal-7440-7443-7444? Confused.
So a friend of mine was driving, swerved to avoid(still hit) a deer, and went into the ditch, busting up the whole lower bumper cover/"aero kit", including front turn signal assemblies. So I found a bumper cover replacement, but both turn signals are gone, no plug, no socket, no bulb, only two wires are left on each side coming off the main wiring harness. None of the local part stores, (oreillys, autozone etc) have anything like that for it. So I Google what type of lightbulb the vehicle(year/make/model) takes thinking I can go to a salvage yard, and get one. Google says it calls for 7443 or 7444 interchangable with 7440. But 43 and 44 are dual filament used for parking and turn lamp, 40 is single filament. So they're not interchangable and typically won't even fit in socket for the other one. They are similar and look like they might fit, but they don't, and they don't have the contacts etc. correct me if I'm wrong but In my experience the dual use bulb sockets have three wires, turn-parking-ground. Right? But everywhere I look it says it uses the multipurpose combo turn/parking lamp bulb, the 7443 or 7444, then a couple places mention the "interchangable" 40... But I only have two coming off the harness on each side for the turn signal. And the 7440, being a single filament one purpose bulb would only need two wires going to the plug/socket. So got a plug/socket for 7443 bulb, tried hooking it up, I used every combination from the three wires on the plug to the two from the harness, best I could get was rapid flashing turn signals. 7440 plug/socket, two wires, nothing at all, either way. Wouldn't light up, perfectly good filament brand new bulb. Can someone please tell me what I'm mistaking here, or misunderstanding?
