ELDIssues
Hi everyone,
I'm a new owner of a 1993 EG with a D15 series engine. I've been having problems with the alternator output being under and over voltage. Given the variability, I was thinking it was probably the ELD. The ELD is not swappable in my year and model, and the fusebox has been discontinued. Does anyone have any ideas? I would prefer to restore it to OEM standards, but I am open to suggestions. Many thanks in advance!

A used fuse box is pretty much the only option if you are trying to keep the car original. If you are tuning, it’s just a matter of disabling the ELD and/or alternator control in your chosen software.
Thanks spAdam. I appreciate the advice. Do you or anyone else know how to test if a used fuse box is good or not? I don't want to replace my existing fuse box with something as bad or worse. If not, turning off the ELD sounds like the simplest option, but I'd prefer not to loose the performance if possible. Also, while I am weighing my options, although it isn't my first choice, what aftermarket mods would be the best replacement for a faulty ELD? I could probably tune the ECM slightly to compensate, but there could be something else I am not thinking of too. Also, if anyone has any recommendations for what software is best for tuning the ECM on an OBD I civic that would be great. I can in theory take an OBD I to OBD II adapter and then an OBD II to USB and plug it into my laptop, but most software is made with OBD II cars in mind. Any advice for what is best to use for tuning/modifying the main computer of an OBD I Civic?
Many thanks in advance again.
Many thanks in advance again.
Thanks tech8 for bring that point up. I replaced the alternator. Twice. Same issue. And the starter. And checked the fuses and their placement. Which is what brought me to the ELD sensor.
