Tranny Fluid/Filter Change
Hi all -
New to the forum. 2013 Accord EX 4 cyl here. Looking to change my transmission fluid and filter. Looks rather straight forward with draining and filling. Not too much to remove to get to the filter...
I'm just looking for advice on order to do. Should I jack up, drain, remove jack to drain any remaining from being up on a slant, change filter, then fill with new fluid? Guess what I'm trying to do is prevent any massive spillage of fluid from the filter housing once removed so wondered if I should drain the car dry then change but wasnt sure if there was any specific order Honda suggests we follow..
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I need to do that service as well, your talking about the CVT transmission, right? Only thing I've heard is the fill port is underneath the main battery in the engine compartment. And the fluid recommended is from Honda and is pretty expensive. This car is quick from starting from a stop light with other cars next you, it easily beats everybody off the line without pushing it.... I hate the thought of potentially messing things up!
The transmission pan bolts torque spec are 9ft lbs and the transmission takes 3.7qts. There is a fill port on top and a check level on the front side of the transmission. That check level bolt is a 10m and it torques to 15ft lbs. Add four quarts and let the excess run out to a slow stream of fluid from check level .
Sorry for the delay. The job really wasnt that difficult. Parts cost me $100 from the dealer and the work was about 2 hours +/-. I'm no expert - took my time and a few breaks as my nephew was helping me and I was teaching him as well. Hardest part was reaching some of the bolts to get to the filter housing as they are under the battery tray. Definitely doable if you have some basic repair knowledge/talent. Good luck!
